I don't know if they exist everywhere, but on our roads here in Malta we have Bus Lanes, lanes specifically reserved for buses, mini vans and the occasional taxi. Although this is good practice in order to reduce the delay of such services, most of the time, these lanes are void of any vehicles, public or not. This means that they end up being a complete waste of space, more often than not, and an increase in traffic. Also, if a warden or police officer catches you driving on such lanes, you get a very lovely fine.
So, I suggest a slight difference; call them Priority Lanes. The difference? Only get a fine if there actually is a bus behind you or something of the sort. I'll leave the details to those who should come up with the ideas, but I wanted to put this out there.
